The most common glazing mistake in commercial greenhouse construction isn't choosing the wrong material. It's choosing based on capital cost alone. Glass, polycarbonate, and ETFE each have a legitimate place in high-performance CEA, but the right answer depends on running a lifecycle analysis, not a line-item comparison, before construction decisions are locked in. We recently published a piece for CEAg World breaking down exactly how to think through that decision: light transmission, thermal performance, service life, and the operational realities that tip the balance between materials depending on your climate, your crop, and your facility's long term goals. We also walk through a recent case study: a commercial grower in Germany who needed to reglaze 30-year-old glass in a high-wind region, and how a targeted material switch to ETFE delivered better plant performance, a 25–30 year service life, and far less downtime than a full rebuild would have required. If glazing is on your decision list for an upcoming build or retrofit, this one is worth the read. https://lnkd.in/gwz7cfJh #CEA #GreenhouseDesign #ControlledEnvironmentAgriculture #GreenhouseEngineering #AgTech #CommercialGreenhouse #Glazing #ETFE #Polycarbonate #CEAgWorld
