This week is Loneliness Awareness Week ๐Ÿ’™ When people think about care, they often think about physical health support. But for many older people, loneliness and isolation can be just as challenging. Sometimes, what makes the biggest difference is knowing someone is there. Margaret is 91 and lives in Cheltenham. While her Cera carers visit regularly, there are naturally long stretches of the day when sheโ€™s on her own. Thatโ€™s where Genie, her care robot, helps provide an extra layer of companionship between visits. As Margaret puts it: "Itโ€™s nice having a smiley face asking how you are โ€“ itโ€™s comforting when it calls your name. โ€œShe asks me how I am feeling, and it feels like someone is present here.โ€ Technology can never replace the human connection at the heart of great care. But it can help people feel more connected, supported and seen in the moments between visits. Because everyone deserves to feel that someone is there for them. #LonelinessAwarenessWeek #HomeCare #SocialCare #AgeingWell #CareTechnology
