In just two weeks, CEPT’s Foundation Program (CFP) students transformed fresh perspectives into stunning outputs: intricate drawings, immersive maps, models, animations, photo essays, and board games. This Field Studio exhibition work, showcasing the cities of Thrissur and Trivandrum, captures its vibrant social, material, and spatial stories, from temple architecture and stories of women to comic strips on elephant ownership, street gossip, lottery culture, and protest streets. How do high school graduates, enrolled across CEPT's faculties of Architecture, Design, Planning and Technology deliver such diverse, professional-grade results after just one semester of common foundational training? It's CEPT's process-led pedagogy at work. Unique to CEPT, the foundation program brings all incoming undergraduate students together for their first year, equipping them with fundamental skills, analytical approaches, and modes of understanding that prepare them for advanced study in their respective disciplines. Guided by tutors, the Field Studio immerses them in a new city - observing, recording, and representing narratives through direct encounters with people and places. Split into six units, students spent seven days on-site anticipating encounters, exploring curiosities, pitching ideas, and gathering fragments, followed by seven days refining outcomes on campus. The result shines through diverse themes and formats, chosen by students to best communicate their findings. Witness it first-hand at North Lawn, Champa Tree, CEPT University - open to all until 29 March 2026. #CEPTFoundationProgram #FieldStudio
