[English language version of this post is below] 読売新聞の取材に対し、CEPIのリチャード・ハチェットCEOは、気候変動や紛争、そして国際的な体制への負荷の高まりを背景に、感染症の脅威が一層拡大していると警鐘を鳴らしました。 媒介生物を通じた流行拡大から、脆弱な紛争地域での困難をきたす対応に至るまで、感染症を取り巻くリスクの様相は、より複雑化し、相互に関連し合うものとなっています。 こうしたリスクの高まりを踏まえ、ハチェット氏は、ワクチン開発や関連技術、緊急時に迅速な接種を可能とする体制への継続的な投資を通じて、世界の備えを強化する必要性を強調しました。 CEPIは、次期戦略CEPI 3.0（2027～2031年）のもと、新たな感染症に対するワクチンを100日以内で開発する目標の実現に取り組むとともに、迅速かつ公平な供給体制の基盤構築を進めています。 CEPIの主要拠出国である日本政府は、CEPIの重要性と国際協力の必要性について言及をしています。ハチェット氏は「世界情勢が一層複雑化する中で、日本のリーダーシップは不可欠である」と述べました。 記事全文はこちら（日本語） -- In an interview with Japan’s THE YOMIURI SHIMBUN, CEPI CEO Dr Richard Hatchett warned that the threat of infectious diseases is only growing, driven by climate change, conflict and increasing pressure on global systems. From the spread of vector-borne diseases to the challenges of responding in fragile and conflict-affected settings, the risk landscape is becoming more complex - and more interconnected. This increasing risk, Dr Hatchett explained, underlines a clear need to strengthen global preparedness through sustained investment in vaccine development, enabling technologies and the systems needed to deliver vaccines quickly in an emergency. Through its next strategy, CEPI 3.0 (2027-2031), CEPI is working to advance the goal of developing vaccines against emerging threats in as little as 100 days, while also building the foundations for rapid and equitable deployment. Japan, as one of CEPI’s largest funders, understands the importance of CEPI’s mission and the need for global cooperation in achieving it.
