With the H5N1 avian influenza virus continuing to evolve and expand its reach across animal populations, the window for proactive preparation is now. As reported today by the BBC, a Phase III CEPI-funded clinical trial has begun to test Moderna's mRNA-based vaccine against this potential pandemic strain, marking a pivotal moment in our global defence strategy. CEPI's funding of up to $54.3 million will help to accelerate development while also putting equitable access at the centre of the agreement.
