Ever wondered how big capital, infrastructure investments, and soft power shape politics in the Horn of Africa? 🌍 Join us on June 8th for a seminar titled: "The relationship between international capital, statehood, and decolonisation processes in the Horn of Africa". This is a great opportunity to look at the region from three distinct research perspectives: historical-financial, hard security, and educational. 💡 Our speakers will be: • Dr. Luca Puddu (University of Palermo) – who will discuss the historical role of road infrastructure (focusing on the UK's actions in Ethiopia) and decolonization. • Dr. Michał Lipa (Jagiellonian University) – who will analyze the Horn of Africa as an emerging transregional security nexus and the geopolitical use of infrastructure. • Dr. Agata Karbowska (Jagiellonian University) – who will share insights from her fieldwork in Ethiopia on Turkey's use of education as a soft power tool.
