🌍 What we stand to lose: why long-term academic partnerships matter Nyanda Elias Ntinginya grew up in rural Tanzania, in a family where no one had ever finished secondary school. Years later, a DAAD-funded scholarship through exceed gave him the chance to pursue his PhD in Munich, one step in a career that eventually led him to lead a medical research institute with 170 staff. His story is remarkable and it is not unique. For more than 15 years, CIHLMU has partnered with universities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America to train future global health leaders and build lasting research collaborations. Many of our scholars went back home and keep the partnership alive until today. That is exactly what is now at risk. The Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) plans to phase out its funding for the higher education cooperation programs of DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst with the Global South. CIHLMU stands behind the DAAD Resolution calling on the German government and parliament to reverse this course. 🗣️ In our news article, alumni like Deepak Paudel, PhD, MPH, MPA form Nepal, now a Health Systems Advisor working with UNICEF and WHO, and María Teresa Solís Soto from Bolivia, who leads the One Health Competence Center there, share what these partnerships made possible — for them, and for the institutions and communities they returned to. 👉 Read the full article, find out more about the resolution and how you can support the matter: http://bit.ly/4wj8Ds3 #SaveDAADPartnerships #GlobalHealth #HigherEducation #DAAD #CIHLMU #OneHealth
