The second: "Errors happen. What matters is how quickly they are detected and rectified." I have experienced both approaches in the industry over many years. And the reality is this: The "zero defect" goal breeds fear. Operators working in fear tend to hide errors. A concealed error travels to the end of the production line, where it ends up costing ten times as much to fix. Conversely, the "detect fast, fix fast" culture fosters trust. In an environment of trust, operators report errors immediately. The error is caught at the source. An inline quality control system makes this possible: Errors are caught at the beginning of the line, not the end Rework costs drop dramatically Operators work with a sense of ownership In denim production, quality is not merely a departmental issue; it is a matter of culture.
