Congratulations to Ben Haladik, from the group of CeMM Adjunct PI Kaan Boztug (St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI)), who successfully defended today his PhD thesis entitled "Functional precision medicine for pediatric myeloid neoplasms". During his PhD, Ben established microscopy-based drug response profiling for childhood leukemias. He showed that this approach can predict patient risk at diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia in children and identified links between epigenetic cell state, drug response, and patient risk that can be used to identify more precise treatments for these patients. Ben's work was successfully carried out at CCRI and CeMM with Kaan Boztug, Giulio Superti-Furga, and Michael Dworzak. Your colleagues and friends at CeMM are proud of you, Ben. Well done! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ“ธ Wolfgang Dรคuble / CeMM #phdlife #phdhat
