So much more than a piece of paper…   a solid system for birth registration, where children’s births are registered right after, and close to the place of occurrence, is one of the most foundational measures to prevent exploitation, illegal adoptions and child trafficking. The criticality of identity rights – knowing your origins - is clearly illustrated in the report that investigates international adoptions to Norway over the past 70 years, and the debate it has triggered.
