Since the earthquakes struck Venezuela, Catholic Relief Services has been supporting Caritas Venezuela as it responds across some of the hardest-hit communities. Through its nationwide network of parishes and dioceses, Caritas has already reached nearly 18,000 people with emergency food, hygiene supplies, more than 120,000 liters of safe drinking water, medical supplies and emotional support. "From the very first days, parishes have been full of volunteers, and trucks carrying relief are constantly coming and going, "Nico Meslaoui, CRS regional team lead for emergencies, said. CRS has now fully deployed a team of emergency specialists to Venezuela to help Caritas expand relief efforts. Together, we are supporting emergency shelter, water and sanitation, cash assistance and recovery planning so that families receive the help they need today while laying the groundwork for the recovery ahead.
