What a game... I watched Spain beat France in last night's World Cup semi-final. And I had a funny thought about business owners... now, stay with me. Think about what you're watching in this tournament. The best teams in the world aren't great because their manager is the best player on the pitch. They're great because the manager isn't on the pitch at all. Didier Deschamps isn't on the field. Luis de la Fuente isn't playing! The great ones direct, decide, and let their team deliver. Now think about your business. Which one of these sounds familiar? Stage 1: You're playing every position. Striker, goalkeeper, physio, kit man. Nothing happens unless you do it. You're exhausted and you're still losing. Stage 2: You've got a squad around you. But you're still on the pitch every single game because you don't trust anyone else to do it right. Player-manager. Doing two jobs. Burning out twice as fast. Stage 3: You're in the dugout. You built the team, you set the strategy, you make the big calls. But the game runs without you touching the ball. Most business owners I speak to are generally stuck in Stage 1 or Stage 2. They built a team, but they never left the pitch! The goal isn't to be the best player in your business. It's to build a team that doesn't need you to be. Which stage are you at right now? PS Yes, that is Kenny Dalglish's shirt in the pic 😊
