Good morning and good afternoon wherever you are in the art world! The Art Talk Magazine and the Art Talk are delighted and honoured to welcome Vincent Fournier’s article among our latest interviews. “Optimism is a choice and sometimes a discipline.” Vincent Fournier We fell in love with his photography during Photo Basel last year. To this day, owning the Flora Incognita series is at the top of François’ three dream acquisitions! Between science and reverie, between the laboratory and the cosmos, the work of Vincent Fournier unfolds like a speculative atlas of possible worlds. His images—whether drawn from space agencies, imagined exoplanets, or fragile botanical mutations—exist in that rare territory where curiosity becomes method and wonder becomes discipline. Fournier’s practice is rooted in reality, architecture, science, technology, yet it constantly stretches toward the unknown. In series such as Space Project, Post Natural History, and the evolving Flora Incognita, he invites us to reconsider what life might become, and perhaps more importantly, what life already is. In this conversation for Art Talk Magazine, the artist reflects on childhood fascinations with science fiction, the necessity of remaining “an eternal amateur,” and the delicate balance between optimism and uncertainty in an age of technological acceleration. Moving between speculation and philosophy, Fournier reminds us that art is not about answers—it is about keeping the questions alive. Thank you for allowing us to interview you for our magazine!
