I can truly say I’m lucky to have made lifelong friends during my time at Hootsuite. I joined back in 2015, when social media was definitely not what it is today. Everything felt new and full of possibility. We were excited, ambitious, and building something in a company with an incredible culture and environment. We were a special group of people — great professionals, but even better humans. We achieved amazing things together, and we also went through hard moments and challenges. And yet, every time I speak to or see (if I’m lucky) someone from those days, a smile naturally appears. It instantly takes me back to how special that time was, and how fortunate we were to be part of it. Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the chance to reconnect individually with a few ex-Owls. Those conversations reminded me of how much talent, generosity, and shared history there is among us — and that’s when I thought: it would be amazing to be connected again. At the same time, it makes me a bit sad to realize how disconnected we’ve all become over the years, when there’s still so much we could learn from each other, support each other with, and maybe even build together again. That’s why I’ve created a Slack channel: a space to stay in touch, share memories, resources, opportunities… and who knows, maybe even collaborate again someday.
