Brand communications coach for purpose-driven entrepreneurs

This. All of this. Adam Grant beautifully captures my core beliefs around value-driven communications in this interview. Key takeaways for all purpose-driven entrepreneurs and social changemakers: 💡It’s hard to change people’s values – it’s easier to connect your mission to values they already hold. 💡If we want people to get on board with our solution, we need to begin building consensus around the problem.  💡And why are we the right ones to solve the problem? Once we’re both clear on our value proposition as the solver, it’s easier to build alignment. 💡Being clear on the core ideas around our founding will carry us today and tomorrow. In my view, here's where we often get it wrong: 🙅‍♀️ It's easier to make assumptions about the problems and challenges -- and how people feel about them -- rather than doing the work to really understand them. 🙅‍♀️ Individuals and organizations are really good at telling us who they are and what their solutions are without first connecting around our shared values and the problems we're working to solve. 🙅‍♀️ More often than not, we're not clear about our own unique value proposition. 🙅‍♀️ And in the timely and relevant words of Lin-Manuel Miranda/Alexander Hamilton: "If you stand for nothing, Burr, what'll you fall for?" But in general, core beliefs can serve as our north star, especially as we grow and evolve. Our task is not to convince everyone that we're right -- our task is to be clear on our core values, sit in others' experiences, understand their challenges, and build alignment to create a future that works better for everyone. We need this wisdom now, more than ever. Thank you to Adam Grant and Jacqueline Novogratz for their inspiring work.
