A few years ago, I had the opportunity to learn directly from Doc Palmer, one of the pioneers of Maintenance Planning and Scheduling. It was an experience that changed the way I see maintenance management. Today, I continue learning from his Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Handbook and, more importantly, applying those principles every day in my work. By implementing these concepts, we have been able to: ✔ Increase workforce productivity without hiring additional personnel. ✔ Improve maintenance planning and scheduling through better daily, weekly, and monthly planning. ✔ Perform deeper analysis before designing maintenance plans, ensuring every task adds value. ✔ Optimize maintenance windows to maximize equipment availability and reduce downtime. ✔ Redesign maintenance routines and checklists, making them simpler, more effective, and easier for technicians to execute. ✔ Eliminate non-value-added work while improving the quality of inspections. ✔ Identify hidden defects earlier, creating valuable backlog that allows maintenance to be planned instead of reacting to failures. ✔ Build a stronger maintenance culture focused on reliability, planning, and continuous improvement. Maintenance planning is much more than scheduling work orders—it's about creating an efficient system where people, processes, and resources work together to improve reliability, safety, and business performance. I would also like to thank Drummond Ltd. 🪖 for continuously investing in the development of its people and giving me the opportunity to keep learning, growing professionally, and applying world-class maintenance practices every day. Continuous learning is one of the foundations of operational excellence. Thank you, Doc Palmer, for your invaluable contribution to our profession. Your work continues to make a difference in maintenance organizations around the world. #MaintenancePlanning #Scheduling #Reliability #MaintenanceManagement #AssetManagement #OperationalExcellence #ContinuousImprovement #Leadership #Mining #Drummond #PlanningAndScheduling
