Between gold dust and lubricants: Mining for Success High up in the mountains of the Philippines lies a gold mine — one of the most fascinating places I’ve ever been. As an expert in open gears, I often find myself in such remote corners of the world, where time seems to tick a little differently I have been going there regularly for many years. Not as a gold prospector, but as Global Technology Manager for Gears. My mission: to work with our partner Allen Specialty Products Co. to monitor a five year long test of Berugear HV 20 on several mill drives and to optimize the consumption rates. What sounds like routine work is a complex project with many details. In addition to regular on-site inspections together with Allen Specialty Products technicians, we provide support in improving the installed spray systems and in optimization of the gear guards. And our employee training courses have not only strengthened technical understanding but also contributed significantly to safety and efficiency in operation. The results are a true team effort under demanding conditions: lower lubricant consumption, more stable plant operation, and thus greater cost-effectiveness. For me, it's more than just technical support. It's a shared learning process that spans years, during which we all improve. And that's exactly what makes this job so special. I love working closely with a team that's always willing to think one step ahead. Technical service doesn't end with the product; it often begins precisely where the challenges arise. And yes, the journey was long every time. But anyone who seeks the path to gold knows that: some journeys are worth it. 😊 Contact me: Frank Hohlbaum #BECHEM #yellowdrums
