Last week, CareTech hosted its end-of-the-year showcase featuring projects that the Tech Committee, UI/UX Committee, and general members have worked on throughout the entire school year and spring quarter. The Tech Committee worked on developing VitaMind, an intelligent full-stack application that bridges the gap between daily intake and proactive brain health. By automating dietary logging through a pipeline with a food-classification YOLO model, it captures granular vitamin metrics and correlates them with personalized user health profiles to support long-term cognitive wellness. The UI/UX committee worked on the design of VitaMind and additionally completed their internal project/design prototype, Sentry. Sentry is a desktop web application that provides emergency department staff with a single, real-time dashboard to monitor patient flow across the ED floor. The features include a main dashboard showing a comprehensive overview of all features, patient assignment flow that allows staff to easily write notes about their patient and assign them a room, a room availability map to help staff quickly assign rooms and streamline ED operations, shift handoff panel for the following nurses/staff to maintain consistent care, and a triage alert panel to see alerts and organize the urgency of each case. Our general member Nivedha Aravindmali also presented her quarter-long project, HeartGuard is a machine learning-based healthcare analytics application designed to analyze historical heart failure patient data and estimate adverse outcome risk using clinical indicators such as ejection fraction, serum creatinine, sodium levels, diabetes status, and age. The system generates risk predictions, explainable insights, and rule-based recommendation guidance to demonstrate how AI-assisted analytics may support monitoring prioritization and clinical review workflows. These projects will be featured on our CareTech website this summer. We are so proud of all the hard work our committees have put into their projects this year! Thank you, and have a great summer!
