CareTech recently had the wonderful opportunity to host and debut AI HealthTech Hackathon! We had 29+ hackers, $250 in prizes, and 9 final projects submitted. 🚀✨ Participants were challenged to design and build innovative solutions that apply artificial intelligence to real world healthcare problems. Furthermore, they were encouraged to think creatively about how AI can improve patient experiences, healthcare accessibility, medical workflows, or health education. 💡💖 🏆 Our 1st Place and Overall Winners: Isak Pederson, Ananth Kini, and Krishiv Mahendru, created Calyx---an app that leverages computer vision and K-Means clustering to measure wound areas and tissue health to cross-reference with clinical knowledge graphs. From these results, doctors will be alerted if a patient's biomarkers are stalling their recovery. 🎨 Our Best User Interface (UI) winners: Lucy Ariunbayar, Sonia Mangat, Medha Bhattacharya, and Kevin Pedregosa, created MedScribe, a patient portal that turns doctor visits into clear, actionable information. Through MedScribe, patients will receive a plain-language summary of any of their medical appointments---decreasing the accessibility gap. 🌈 Our Most Creative winners: Abigale Liao, Jiangyue-Amber Jiang, and Ziqi Liu, created MedLeaf, a privacy-first, AI-powered digital healthcare companion. MedLeaf takes the guesswork and anxiety out of the US medical system by acting as your personal medical translator and insurance navigator. We applaud not only your technical abilities working with technologies ranging from conversational AI to computer vision, but your dedication to creating technologies that will directly benefit medical professionals and people in need.
