Our newly formed Food and Agribusiness Advisory Committee met for the first time last week! Committee members Emma Todaro, Bronwyn Koll, Tony Morgan, Dr Mary Cole, Robert Green, Frank Rovers, Lisa Magee, Greg Templeton, Simon Beard and Lauren Horwood will work alongside Councillors David Nickell and Trudi Paton, as well as Council staff, to help guide the future of food and agribusiness and strengthen connections across the sector. The committee will play a key role in helping to shape policies, strategies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the shire’s food and agribusiness sector and in supporting Council’s vision for food and agribusiness across the shire. The group consists of producers, industry leaders, technical experts and hands-on practitioners, offering a strong mix of perspectives and expertise. A recent audit confirmed Cardinia Shire’s position as a major food-producing region, contributing around $500 million to the economy each year and supplying fresh, high-quality produce to markets across Australia and overseas. The committee’s insights, together with findings from the audit, will help shape Council’s new Food and Agribusiness Strategy under the Council Plan 2025–29.
