Last Wednesday, fourteen members of our newly established Youth Action and Advisory Committee (YAAC) met with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Councillors to learn more about local government and to share their aspirations, priorities and key issues affecting young people in Cardinia Shire.   The session provided a valuable platform for open dialogue and mutual learning, allowing Councillors and young people to hear directly from one another. Feedback received from both Councillors and participating young people on the night was overwhelmingly positive. All members reported an increased understanding of how Council works, with many describing the session as the highlight of the YAAC program to date. Further opportunities will be provided throughout the year for Councillors and YAAC members to continue these important conversations and strengthen youth participation in local decision-making.
