In recognition of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Harmony Week, we recently held a Harmony Day lunch and Melbourne Playback Theatre Company event for staff. During our Harmony Day Lunch, we celebrated the wonderful diversity in our workplace. Staff bought a plate of their favourite cultural dish to share - thank you to our organisers and everyone who came along to share their food and stories. At our Melbourne Playback Theatre Company event, professional actors and facilitators led an engaging session that supported a courageous conversation about racism intervention, including what staff can do and how they can respond when confronted with situations where support is needed. Cardinia Shire Council encourages a sense of belonging within our shire. We support an inclusive community comprised of people from diverse backgrounds, including and not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from cultural and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, those identifying as LGBTIQ+, people of faith, and people of all ages, genders and abilities.
