Always check your InMail. You never know what's waiting. 🇮🇪 ⚽   Last week I got to sit down with Pico Lopes; Shamrock Rovers captain, Cape Verde International and a World Cup player who nearly missed the whole thing because he thought his call up to the team via a LinkedIn message was spam.   In 2019, Pico was working in a Dublin bank and playing part-time when a InMail came in from the Cape Verde national team manager. It was in Portuguese, so he ignored it. Nine months later they tried again in English, and this time our homegrown hero saw he was being invited to play international football. He said yes, and the rest is a story that would not be out of place in a Hollywood movie!   The adventure led him to this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA.  A brilliant reminder that opportunity doesn't always announce itself.
