Unlocking real time operational insights across the electricity network Capula and SSEN Transmission have recently delivered a major step forward in operational visibility by deploying a new solution built on the AVEVA™ PI System™, giving teams a unified, real time view of asset condition, network performance and operational risk. For many DNOs and Transmission Operators, fragmented data and legacy Operational Technology systems continue to limit situational awareness. This project shows what’s possible when those barriers are removed. Through a collaborative design process led by SSEN Transmission, we helped the company consolidate data previously spread across multiple systems -including PowerOn, PI Data Archive, PI AF and environmental data feeds -into a single near real time operational picture. The result? • Faster, better informed operational decisions • Improved safety and risk identification • Consistent OT data across the organisation • A scalable foundation for analytics and AI in RIIO-T3, ED2 and beyond • Monitoring more than 3700 assets e.g. circuits, substations and components, utilising circa 60,000 PI Tags As the industry accelerates digitalisation and prepares for AI driven operations, having trusted, accessible data is becoming business critical.
