On 13 May, we kicked off an exciting new collaboration between Standard Chartered Singapore and NTU Career & Attachment Office through the Standard Chartered x NTU LevelUP! structured mentorship programme, which will run from May to August 2026. This special run brings together more than 80 mentors from Standard Chartered (SC) across diverse fields, including Banking & Financial Services, Technology & Digital Innovation, Sustainability & ESG, and Leadership & Business Operations, among others. Over 100 NTU students have been matched with mentors based on their areas of interest, giving them the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals, gain valuable industry insights, and better understand pathways into these roles. The programme officially began with mentees visiting SC’s office at Marina Bay Financial Centre for the programme kick-off. We were warmly welcomed by Jimmy ONG, Head of Community Impact & Engagement, Singapore and ASEAN, followed by an inspiring welcome address by Rena Teng, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Singapore and ASEAN. A highlight was the panel featuring NTU alumni Edmund Lim, Ee Tuck Chew, and Hazelle Lim. Coming from different academic disciplines, they shared their unique career journeys and the skills that enabled them to transition into their current roles at SC, demonstrating that career pathways are rarely linear and that transferable skills matter. They also shared how mentorship shaped their own journeys and why they are passionate about giving back. Over the next three months, we hope that students and their mentors will learn from one another through meaningful conversations and build lasting connections. We look forward to seeing these mentorship journeys unfold and to celebrating the programme finale in August. A big thank you to the SC team Alicia Lim, Carolyn Yeo, Nicole Hilary Teo and mentors for making this collaboration possible. To our students, this programme is what you make of it. Your mentors are here to guide you, but the experience will be most meaningful when you take ownership. Be proactive, be curious, and be intentional in your learning. To our mentors, your time, encouragement and willingness to share your experiences will make a meaningful difference in shaping students’ journeys. Thank you for stepping forward, Adeline Lai, Kuah Jian Sheng, Vinay Kubatoor, Praveen Venkatachari, Pradeep Nair, and Benjamin Hodges, among many others.
