We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Juliet Daniel, a remarkable Canadian innovator who exemplified excellence in science and research. Her groundbreaking work, including the discovery of the Kaiso (ZBTB33) gene, advanced our understanding of aggressive breast cancers affecting Black women. We were honoured to have her contribute to CIPO’s first Black History Month event, where she shared a journey marked by courage and perseverance. Her legacy reminds us of the importance of recognizing, protecting and advancing the value of ideas. We extend our sincere condolences to her family, colleagues and all those she inspired. 🕊️
