Our researchers have identified important new signs to help doctors quickly spot the devastating flesh-eating disease necrotising fasciitis, that kills one in four patients. Caroline (pictured with her two daughters, Francesca and Eva), has a history of health issues and infections, but when facing this aggressive disease, said: "I feel blessed the doctor knew exactly what to look for. Equally, I felt sorry for my poor husband who had just lost his brother – and was now faced with losing his wife too. It wasn’t easy having to share that with our children." Fortunately, five years on Caroline has made a remarkable recovery. She had an emergency surgery, and six weeks of intensive recovery in hospital - learning to walk, talk and adjust to life again. She reflects: "I am certainly not one to seek the limelight about my health issues, but I am very happy to share my story alongside this research if it helps doctors – and perhaps patients - recognise this condition at an earlier stage." 📱Read more on our website: https://orlo.uk/yw1uz 📺 Watch more on BBC News Look East today at 1:35pm and 6:30pm.
