Managing waste responsibly means recognising the value it holds. This Earth Day, we’re highlighting how, across the wastewater industry, residuals are no longer seen as something to dispose of, but as a source of energy, nutrients, and long-term value. With advanced treatment processes in place, what was once considered waste can be broken down more efficiently, unlocking higher energy recovery, reducing volumes that need handling, and creating biosolids that are safe for beneficial reuse. This shift allows utilities to lower emissions, optimise operations, and return valuable resources back into the ground. At Cambi, this contributes to more efficient sludge treatment and supports a broader shift in how cities manage and recover value from residuals. The outcomes of our work are tangible for utilities around the globe: ⚡ More renewable energy generated from biogas 🌱 Nutrient-rich biosolids that can support soil and land restoration ♻️ Lower emissions through reduced transport and processing It reflects a growing move towards systems that reconnect urban infrastructure with the earth, where what is processed today contributes to the health and resilience of tomorrow. #EarthDay #CircularEconomy #ResourceRecovery #SoilHealth #Sustainability #ClimateAction
