Working under the guidance of State Park Interpreter staff, you’ll help connect visitors to the incredible natural, cultural, and recreational resources of the San Luis Obispo Coast District. From leading engaging programs to supporting outreach and visitor services, this role is perfect for someone who loves education, storytelling, and the outdoors. In this role, you’ll: ✔️ Lead and assist with educational walks, talks, and interpretive programs ✔️ Support Junior Ranger programs, school tours, and campfire programs ✔️ Engage visitors through outreach, social media, and virtual experiences ✔️ Promote understanding of cultural, natural, and recreational resources ✔️ Assist staff and volunteers with visitor services and programming ✔️ Work both independently and as part of a dynamic park team ✔️ Help create memorable and meaningful visitor experiences ✔️ Represent California State Parks with professionalism and enthusiasm Location: Morro Bay Museum of Natural History (Morro Bay, CA) Position: Park Interpretive Specialist (Seasonal) Salary: $18.26 - $22.15 per hour Final Filing Date: 5/1/2026 Additional Details: • Seasonal position running Memorial Day through Labor Day • Flexible part-time to full-time schedules available (up to 1500 hours/year) • Includes work throughout San Luis Obispo Coast District (Morro Bay, Hearst San Simeon, and Montaña de Oro State Parks) • Requires weekends, evenings, and holiday availability • Not eligible for telework; primarily outdoor and on-site work • Involves standing, walking, and environmental exposure (weather, dust, noise, etc.) Spend your summer educating, inspiring, and connecting people to California’s stunning coast!
