At Intranet Reloaded in Berlin, Stefan Thormann and Robert Thieme from Boehringer Ingelheim shared a great example of how their intranet evolved from a static publishing site into a daily work hub. Their journey with Insight shows what happens when intranet teams focus on the real employee experience: reducing tool switching, improving relevance, integrating everyday tasks, keeping content clean, and using research rather than assumptions to guide decisions. One takeaway stood out for me: the intranet is no longer just where employees go to read. Done well, it is where work starts. I’ve written up the key lessons from their session below.
