Did you know that in 2024, Virginia's Outdoor Economy generated over $14 billion statewide? In Charlottesville and Albemarle County alone, that figure is close to $1 billion. At the sixth annual Active Mobility Summit, hosted by The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC), more than 200 leaders, business owners, professionals, and advocates gathered to discuss access to the outdoors as well as transportation and connectivity. Speakers from multiple destinations across the state highlighted how the development of infrastructure has been beneficial for both the local community and those looking to visit.
