🚠 Germany was once a global pioneer in cable car technology Companies such as Adolf Bleichert (Leipzig) and Pohlig (Cologne) helped shape some of the world's most iconic cable car systems, including the famous Sugarloaf Cable Car in Rio de Janeiro and the Port Cable Car in Barcelona. More than a century later, Germany is once again discussing urban cable cars. This time as part of sustainable public transport systems. In a recent article published in NahverkehrsPraxis (Issue 5/6), our founder Dominik Berndt take a closer look at how the debate is evolving from technical feasibility towards practical implementation. Using the German projects in #Herne and #Heilbronn as examples, the article explores the challenges of planning, governance, funding and project delivery for urban cable car systems.
