These are the words of Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. An independent legal expert appointed by the United Nations to document, investigate and report on violations of #internationallaw. Francesca travels the world not because she is paid to care, but because she has seen what happens when the world looks away. Her message is clear and unsparing: the genocide in Gaza is not only Israel's crime. It is a collective one โ€” made possible by the weapons, the money, the diplomatic cover, and the silence of Western states and their citizens. She speaks to governments. She speaks to lawyers and institutions. And she also speaks to you. That is why she keeps showing up, in Geneva, in Cape Town, and most recently, in the city of peace and justice, The Hague, where we were able to speak to her and film this short clip. No matter how our governments continue to behave, she insists that international law must mean something, and that ordinary people have more power than they think. #bystandersnomore #francescaalbaneseย  Video: Emily May 't Hoen
