#Tolling of #BESS has gained significant relevance recently and is becoming a key tool to accelerate the ramp-up of #batterystorage in Germany. It plays a crucial role in attracting more risk-averse investors to these projects and, ultimately, in advancing the energy transition. As is often the case in early markets, a lack of clarity, inconsistent structures, and differing definitions in tolling agreements slow down progress. As part of the newly established BVES Energy Storage Systems Association Task Force “Tolling”, we met at our member Uniper SE in Düsseldorf to discuss the future of storage market models together with project developers, marketers, technical experts, and legal advisors. 🎯 Our goal: to develop a market-ready term sheet for tolling agreements that enables secure and bankable investment in storage infrastructure. The focus is on legal certainty, technical feasibility, and a common market understanding, laying the foundation for standardized, scalable models.
