Successful Completion of the New Heavy-Lift Quay at Buss Terminal Eemshaven We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the new heavy-lift quay at Buss Terminal Eemshaven. To mark this milestone, the team welcomed contributing service providers, customers, and the co-financiers of the WINdQUAY project, including the CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, to a closing event at the terminal. With the expansion of the heavy-lift quay in Julianahaven, the terminal significantly increases its capacity for offshore energy projects. The primary objective of the WINdQUAY project was to enhance the load-bearing capacity of sections of the existing quay to provide greater flexibility in handling heavy-lift vessels used for the installation of offshore wind turbines at one of the largest offshore wind terminals in the European North Sea. As part of the project, the quay structure was reinforced and ground conditions improved to handle the substantial loads of wind turbine components and installation vessels during loading and unloading operations. The upgraded quay area is now designed for a load capacity of 40 t/m². “The successful completion of the WINdQUAY project is the result of strong collaboration between many dedicated partners and experts. We would like to sincerely thank CINEA, our project partners, service providers, and the entire Buss Ports team for their commitment and excellent cooperation throughout the project. Together, we have created an important infrastructure upgrade that strengthens Buss Terminal Eemshaven’s role as a key hub for offshore wind logistics in the North Sea,” says Marc Wegman, Managing Director of Buss Terminal Eemshaven BV. With the expanded infrastructure, the terminal can now support up to two offshore wind farm projects simultaneously. We would like to thank CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency and all contributing partners and service providers for their excellent collaboration: Groningen Seaports, Bam, Elzinga Groep, Witteveen+Bos, InVra plus B.V., in2Dredging Pty Ltd, as well as the entire Buss Ports team. Together, we continue to strengthen the North Sea region as a key hub for offshore wind energy.
