symex GmbH & Co. KG is one of the world’s leading companies in customised systems engineering for complex vacuum, mixing and homogenising systems in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries. For a Central American pharmaceutical manufacturer that wanted to expand its production capacity, symex was given the task of building an efficient mixing system for creams and ointments that meets FDA and GMP requirements. However, conventional diaphragm valves require high energy input and large amounts of pure steam in SIP processes, while their high thermal mass slows down heating and cooling – impacting overall efficiency. Together with Bürkert, symex implemented diaphragm valves with tube valve bodies (TVBs) in the new mixing system. The hydroformed valve bodies are lightweight, highly precise and made from the same material used in the system, eliminating the need for additional welding or installation steps and enabling more efficient processes.
