MarbleMat™ takes personalised food supplements to a new level, producing small, oil-based pellets with different active ingredients that can be combined in a targeted manner. The precise dosage of the ingredients in these so-called ‘Marbles’ is of utmost importance. However, the process conditions are challenging: fast dosing cycles with valve opening times of just a few milliseconds, high temperatures and extremely tight tolerances. At the same time, MarbleMat wanted to monitor the dosing volume – but suitable sensors for these temperatures were not available, and existing valve solutions could not meet all requirements. Together with Bürkert, MarbleMat implemented the Type 6724 Whisper Valves to meet these demanding conditions. The rapidly switching, chemically extremely resistant valves enable precise dosing, while ValveInsight allows the switching behaviour to be monitored in real time and deviations to be detected immediately. Based on tests and risk analyses, the solution was further optimised in close collaboration over an extended period.
