Heading out to explore your public lands? Don’t forget the most important adventure essential - water! Whether you’re hiking, camping, or just soaking in the views, heat can sneak up on you fast. Staying hydrated is key to avoiding dehydration and heat-related illness, so pack more water than you think you’ll need. Don’t forget your four-legged adventure sidekick! Bring plenty of water for them, offer frequent breaks, and look for shady spots to help them cool down. Portable pet water bottles or collapsible bowls make it easy to keep them hydrated on the go. Hot surfaces like asphalt, sand, and rock can be tough on paws. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet! 📸Hannah Schwalbe, National Park Service
