Last week's Demo Day was a great example of innovation in AEC! Attendees had the opportunity to hear pitches from seven early-stage startups participating in the competition—Armeta, Crewscope, Jobotics AI, Modelizer AI, Sandbox Carbon, Structo, and Structured AI—before hearing presentations from three later-stage AEC startups CALMFLOOR, Yourco, and SmartPM Technologies, Inc. The competition at this year's Chicago Global Summit was especially fierce, impressing the judges panel—comprised of Maggie Kenefake (Iron Prairie Ventures), Cameron Mabley (UFP Ventures), Ahmad Tahir (Moderne Ventures), Scott Kaplanis (GroundBreak Ventures), Varad Mohod (Zacua Ventures), Sonia Sahney Nagar (SNAK Venture Partners), Aki MANDA (Kajima), and Jesse Roth (Amrize)—with solutions tackling inefficiencies across the industry including jobsite documentation and communication, the reality gap, waste management for jobsite air pollution, and more. We're excited to announce that Sandbox Carbon, presented by Co-Founder and CEO Aaron Rose, was named the winner of this year's competition. 🎊 Congratulations to Aaron and the rest of the Sandbox Carbon team! The company, based out of Chicago, aims to reduce CO2, odors, and smog-forming pollutants with a "carbon dumpster" that connects directly to fossil fuel equipment's exhaust. The incoming exhaust is filtered and converted into minerals that are easy to manage with the company retrieving full "carbon dumpsters" and disposes of the waste. Customers utilizing Sandbox Carbon report cleaner sites, happier neighbors, and lower friction.
