Building the Cooperation Fabric

Tonight the musical stars align over Leipzig, building a bridge across nations: Gewandhausorchester & Boston Symphony Orchestra unite in the city of the "Peaceful Revolution". Both ensembles born of citizen courage—one in a merchants’ guildhall, the other from a veteran’s dream — fuse their stories in Shostakovich’s 7th, composed to challenge repression. Freedom and cooperation form the world’s most demanding symphony: I felt the power of that musical message six years ago in Boston. Both orchestras formed the inspiring highlight on the visit of German President Steinmeier. Below is my clip of that Skrjabin-finale under Andris Nelsons’ lead in Boston. Proud that Unite backs the Gewandhausorchester as partner, with their message that partnership—across nations, sectors, and stages—will win the final crescendo. #WeUnite
