Union City, NJ has been awarded funding through the New Jersey Department of Human Services’ Senior Wellness Pilot Program, supporting a comprehensive initiative to reduce social isolation and improve quality of life for older adults. The City’s program was selected through a competitive statewide process and will receive $115,354.84 to implement a year-long model focused on wellness programming, social engagement, and targeted outreach to seniors most at risk of isolation. This initiative reflects Union City’s continued commitment to building an age-friendly community by expanding access to in-person programming, strengthening social connections, and prioritizing seniors facing language, mobility, and economic barriers. We’re proud to have partnered with the City on the development of this successful application, helping translate local needs into a competitive, fundable program aligned with State priorities. As demand for funding continues to grow, municipalities that combine strong planning, clear outcomes, and community-driven strategies are best positioned to succeed. #CommunityEngagement #GrantFunding #NJDHS #SocialConnection #WellnessPrograms
