It's inspiring to see more than 1,200 students gaining first-hand experience of the workplace through Ealing Council (London Borough of Ealing)'s Work Experience (WEX) programme. 💼 As one of many organisations taking part, Brunel University of London was pleased to welcome Year 10 students to campus, offering an insight into university life, higher education, and the diverse range of careers within a large institution. As Professor Geoff Rodgers, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Employment, said: "We chose to take part in the programme as part of our wider commitment to civic engagement, supporting local young people, widening aspirations, and helping them gain insight into higher education, careers, and university life." Colleagues from across the university came together to provide a broad understanding of how an organisation with multiple teams functions, with students taking part in structured activities across different areas. Many students showed a noticeable increase in confidence through both one-to-one interactions and group activities, as noted by Professor Geoff Rodgers. We look forward to continuing to support opportunities that bring real-world experience to young people and help shape future ambitions.💫
