I've just published a new article on a topic that's generating a lot of discussion in boardrooms and product teams alike: Product Management Isn't Broken. Most Organisations Have Been Doing It Wrong. After speaking with business leaders in Sydney and recently spending time in London, I noticed the same pattern emerging across organisations of all sizes: product management is increasingly being judged as ineffective, but the real issue is that many businesses have turned product roles into delivery roles. When product managers spend more time managing backlogs than identifying opportunities, driving strategy and creating commercial value, it's no surprise that outcomes suffer. This isn't geography-specific or a company-size problem. It's an organisational design and capability problem. In the article, I explore why this has happened, the impact it's having on businesses, and what leaders can do to address it. I'd love to hear whether you've seen similar challenges in your organisation. #productmanagement #product #commercialoutcomes #transformation #softwaredevelopment #fintech #financialservices
