We wish a happy retirement to Brockenhurst College Alumnus, Sam Vokes, who is bringing his professional football career to a close today. Sam studied at Brock from 2005 – 2007 and since then has played over 600 professional games for AFC Bournemouth, Burnley, Stoke City, Wycombe Wanderers, and most recently for League Two club Gillingham. He also played 64 times for the Welsh national team, earning 64 caps for his country, as well as being part of the squad that Wales took to the 2016 European Championship, their first major tournament since 1958 and their first ever qualification for the European finals. A standout moment for Sam was coming on as a substitute and scoring in the 3-1 win against Belgium, which sent the Wales through to the semi-final of the tournament.  Congratulations on an amazing career Sam. Enjoy your retirement! Photo credit: Photo 2 courtesy of Dan Mullan, Getty Images.
