Greater Muscat Structure Plan Official Launch: A city of 1.5 million people. 100 kilometres of coastline and one plan to change the direction. Under the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, officially launched the Greater Muscat Structure Plan, a comprehensive spatial and investment framework prepared by Broadway Malyan for the #Oman Ministry of Housing & Urban Planning , in association with local partner F&M Middle East. The plan covers 137,000 hectares and is built around a single spatial idea: the Blue Spine, a transit-oriented corridor running the full length of the city, connecting seven economically differentiated nodes and anchoring a network of walkable, fifteen-minute neighbourhoods, growing the city from 1.8 to 2.66 million residents. Its purpose is not incremental improvement. It is a wholesale reorientation of Muscat's growth logic: from outward sprawl to connected density, from car dependency to transit-led investment, from fragmented land policy to a coherent, costed and digitally modelled prospectus for the next generation. Structured around five vision aims that establish #Muscat as a greener, more liveable, better-connected, productive and resilient capital region, the plan sets out an ambitious framework for sustainable growth, combining integrated mobility, economic diversification, public realm enhancement and carbon neutral infrastructure to shape a more liveable and future-ready metropolis by 2040. 120 policies. 300+ projects.
