We are celebrating a milestone for The Haymarket Foundation - and for what’s possible when long-term partners stay focused on the same goal: ending homelessness. For Bridge Housing, our relationship with Haymarket is grounded in a shared commitment to change lives, and to create real pathways from housing crisis to stability. This new home is a practical expression of that partnership. From its beginnings as a mobile clinic run from a green van in 1974, Haymarket has supported people with complex needs who are experiencing homelessness. The homelessness service then experienced its own housing uncertainty due to the previous ageing premises. Having a secure base changes what’s possible: it gives people dignity, privacy and the space to begin again. With $22 million invested, the new centre will provide 35 self-contained studios, including safe spaces for women fleeing domestic and family violence, and support for people living with complex needs, including HIV. This outcome reflects significant collaboration across all levels of government and partners including Housing Australia, Homes NSW, the City of Sydney and Lendlease FutureSteps - all working alongside Haymarket and Bridge with a clear purpose. For Georgia, the impact is deeply personal: “Haymarket was the starting point for my return to the community. The moral support I received there was just as important as any practical help. It gave me the confidence to start rebuilding my life.” To everyone who helped make this possible - thank you. And to Haymarket: we’re proud to stand with you, working together to change lives.
