🚨Big scoop from me today: The National Congress of American Indians — the nation’s oldest and largest Native American advocacy organization, representing 575 federally recognized tribes — quietly walked away from the official America250 celebration last year after the Trump administration took over and the initial vision and “rhetoric” changed. NCAI policy director Meghan Bishop told me their partnership contract with America250 was canceled when the Trump administration took over, meanwhile while conservative nonprofit PragerU and Hillsdale College were brought in to develop educational materials that stripped Native perspectives from the history of colonization. “It’s a very, very white-centered view of colonization,” Bishop said.
