Six days of workshop. Two countries. One shared starting point. In Phnom Penh, BORDA colleagues from Germany, Laos and Cambodia came together to launch the new project phase: “Decentralised Municipal Basic Services (Water, Wastewater and Solid Waste)”. The first three days focused on structure and clarity: Budget planning, Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) requirements, financial procedures and documentation. Administrative and finance teams from both countries worked closely with our partner organisations to establish a transparent and reliable foundation for implementation. The following three days were dedicated to technical planning: Work packages were defined, responsibilities clarified and milestones agreed upon. Challenges were openly discussed. Perspectives were aligned. A realistic roadmap for the next three years took shape. Our shared objective: To strengthen sustainable and climate-resilient solutions for water, wastewater and solid waste management in small towns in Laos and Cambodia — reducing health and environmental risks for disadvantaged population groups, with particular attention to women and marginalised communities. Good planning is teamwork. - The personal exchange during these days created a strong basis. Now, implementation begins. #BORDA #TeamBORDA #Laos #Cambodia #Sanitation #wastewatertreatment #Watermanagement #SustainableInfrastructure #SustainableDevelopment This project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) within the framework of Social Structure Promotion.
