A piece on the Stiklestad game in our regional newspaper Trønder-Avisa this weekend https://lnkd.in/es58i7H2 Sorry, Norwegian only, but TL;DR: Trondheim-based studio Breach is developing a historically grounded single-player RPG about the Battle of Stiklestad and the transformation of Norway during the Viking Age. The game aims to counter the exaggerated “Hollywood Viking” stereotype with local knowledge, historical research, and a distinctly Trøndelag perspective. Rather than an action-heavy Viking game, it will be a narrative, choice-driven isometric RPG inspired by games such as Disco Elysium and the early Fallout titles. Players will navigate political, religious, and personal conflicts surrounding Stiklestad, with their decisions shaping the story and possible outcomes. The project is still in early development, with the visual identity planned to be defined by summer 2027 and a target release around the 1,000-year anniversary of the battle in 2030.
