We are approaching a new phase of augmented reality 👓 Over the next few years, more AR and spatial computing form factors will enter the market - from phones and tablets to headsets, smart glasses and eventually lighter everyday devices. But organizations do not need to wait for the “perfect” hardware generation to start building value. A good starting point is already here: mobile and iPad-based AR. At Breach, we explored this through our work with iTrollheimen AS, where we created an iPad-based AR Troll-detector for families visiting Trollheimen: https://lnkd.in/eduN4V-3. The experience uses location-based AR to connect the physical landscape with local folklore, allowing visitors to discover troll activity as part of a narrated outdoor adventure. For us, this is a strong example of where AR is heading: ✔️Digital information placed in the real world. ✔️Stories, training and guidance connected to specific locations. ✔️3D content that enhances - rather than replaces - the physical experience. ✔️Applications that can start on devices people already understand, and later evolve into new spatial computing platforms. This is relevant far beyond tourism and cultural experiences and we see strong potential for AR in: ➕healthcare and patient guidance ➕emergency preparedness and field training ➕education and skills development ➕industrial procedures and maintenance ➕real estate and urban development ➕museums, visitor centres and public communication ➕digital twins and operational visualization ➕sales, onboarding and product demonstrations The strategic point is simple 💭 If you start building AR applications now for mobile and iPad, you are not just creating a useful tool today - you are preparing your organization for the next paradigm of interactive media. The content, workflows, 3D assets, interaction models and user insight you develop now can become the foundation for future headset and glasses-based experiences. We are especially interested in working with organizations that want to explore practical AR, MR, VR or interactive 3D solutions - not as a gimmick, but as tools for learning, training, communication, visualization and decision-making.
